This year

Processing wool and wool fiber producing "Forest" LLC, which began its work in September 2013, is the only one of its kind in Artsakh. Last year the company received and processed 30 tons of wool, and this year it is expected to increase that number to 150-200 tons.

"Artsakhpress" had a talk with the company’s director Inara Petrosyan.

“Last year we received 9,5 tons of thread out of 25 tons of recycled wool, of which we managed to sell 8 tons. Raw wool is received not only from Artsakh but is also imported from Syunik Province of RA and from Turkmenistan.

So far there have not been limitations in the amount of wool reception. Depending on the cleanliness, age and length of the wool, the price of wool reception is 300-400 AMD for 1 kg. The main customer of our finished products is "Karabakh Carpet" company," said the director of the company.

According to I. Petrosyan currently the company plans to expand the sales market and in this connection the company has entered into agreements with the respective companies of RA and the Russian Federation.

“Expansion of the market of products will help to increase the reception of wool. Currently the factory employs 20 people, and the average salary is between 76 to 120 thousand AMD. The company needs experts, the lack of which is replaced by the corresponding experts’ advice from Armenia and abroad.

In the near future we plan to arrange  wool reception in places where the company's employees, previously agreed with individuals or organizations engaged in sheep breeding, will organize sheep shearing and adopt the wool. I think it will not only provide additional income for specialists in this field, but will also give a new impetus to the development of sheep farming in Artsakh ", - said I. Petrosyan.
