Armenia-Azerbaijan border tension grows, Armenian soldier wounded

STEPANAKERT, APRIL 5, ARTSAKHPRESS: The Ministry of Defense of Armenia informed that during this time the Azerbaijani side fired at Armenian position-holders and settlements, and by way of rifle weaponry and mortars.

As a result of the actions taken in response by the vanguard units of the Armenian Armed Forces, however, the adversary’s “activeness” was quelled.

But Armenian military serviceman Zori Ashrafyan (born in 1983) sustained shrapnel wound during the skirmish.

The Armenian Armed Forces are showing restraint, but they continue confidently controlling the border situation.

The situation at the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone dramatically escalated in the early morning hours on April 2. From regular shootings and frequent sabotage-reconnaissance attempts, Azerbaijan switched to large-scale attacks all along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact, using a variety of weaponry as well as artillery, armored vehicles, and air force. Both sides have suffered casualties.
