The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic National Assembly approved Ruben Melikyan to the position of NKR Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman).

STEPANAKERT, MAY 5, ARTSAKHPRESS: As Artsakhpress informed the newly appointed Ombudsman expressed his gratitude to MPs for trusting him and noted that the will present inhuman atrocities committed by Azerbaijan during the four-day war in international platforms.
"These atrocities should be condemned and international community should give respective response. There is enough evidence for which NKR Human Rights Defender’s Office will be consistent,” said Ruben Melikyan .
He added that he will continue his former counterpart's work and will further internationalize and publicize the activity of Human Rights Defender’s Institute.
Ruben Melikyan was previously the rector of Justice Academy of Armenia.
Yuri Hayrapetyan, now NKR former Human Rights Defender, had submitted his respective resignation last week.
