NKR MP offers to proclaim Artsakh as a Christian Republic

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 30, ARTSAKHPRESS: The MP noted that his proposal has moral, historical, economic and political serious grounds. "Armenia was the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as a state religion, which is confirmed not only by historical sources, but also by the leader of more than one billion two hundred million Catholic Christians.

The MP said that he would like to highlight the following in the address of His Holiness Pope Francis: "I come to you with God's help, to carry out as the motto says," first visit to a Christian country. " And I come as a pilgrim.”

"Both the vision and the speech of His Holiness Pope Francis was the most significant message to the world ," he said.

According to him, if the proposal gets accepted, it will not affect the possible representation of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in the negotiation process, as it applies only to the name of the second article,( i.e.; Artsakh Republic) of the first chapter of the Artsakh Constitution, which, as Artsakh Christian Republic, may be identical to the name of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
