Russia considers it right to invite the representatives of the UN and the new US administration to the upcoming Syria talks in Astana on January 23 and hopes Washington will accept the invitation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at an annual press conference on January 17, reports TASS.

STEPANAKERT, JANUARY 17, ARTSAKHPRESS: “Now a meeting in Astana is prepared. We consider it right to invite the representatives of the UN and the new US administration to take part in it”, the Minister said.
“We expect the new US administration will be able to accept the invitation and will be represented by its experts at all possible levels. This will be the first official contact during which it will be possible to discuss ways on raising the efficiency of the fight against terrorism in Syria”, the Russian FM said.
