STEPANAKERT, JANUARY 19, ARTSAKHPRESS: Israel has proposed that the Russian-Israeli blogger apologize in writing to Azerbaijan, and in exchange Baku revoke its request for his extradition to Azerbaijan, according to Haaretz daily of Israel.

The respective letter has been prepared, and they are awaiting Baku’s accordance, whereupon it will be forwarded to the Azerbaijan MFA.

Baku, however, has not yet responded to this proposal.

Haaretz also noted that when Lapshin decided to write an apology letter, the Azerbaijanis informed that they are ready to accept a written apology solely after his extradition from Belarus to Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijanis noted that this issue is a “matter of principle,” and that they will release him only after his extradition.

Nonetheless, Alexander Lapshin is afraid that the Azerbaijanis will not keep their promise.

On December 15, 2016, Alexander Lapshin was detained in the Belarus capital city of Minsk, and based on Azerbaijan’s international search and extradition request, due to his visiting Artsakh.
