Syrian lawmaker Reisyan says Aleppo is gradually recovering

STEPANAKERT, JANUARY 20, ARTSAKHPRESS-ARMENPRESS: Of course it was almost completely destroyed, there are problems in terms of water supply and electricity, but the reconstruction projects of the city are ready, Zhirayr Reisyan, lawmaker of the Syrian Parliament from Aleppo told ARMENPRESS.

“The reconstruction of Aleppo has already begun, however it’s not a matter of days or weeks”, Reisyan stressed.

Speaking on the re-opening of the city’s airport, the MP says it can almost be considered as completed, but the state is doing everything for creating conditions guaranteeing its safety. Works are underway.

Reisyan is confident that Armenians of Aleppo – who had left the city to seek refuge – will undoubtedly return after its liberation.

Firdus Zakaryan, Chief-of-Staff of the Diaspora Ministry of Armenia told ARMENPRESS Syrian-Armenians from Aleppo who had sought refuge in Armenia are not in a hurry for returning to their city. “They regularly visit Aleppo for updates in terms of their property, but they return again. The current situation in Aleppo isn’t yet grounds for Armenians of Aleppo to make a decision on leaving Armenia”, Zakaryan said, adding there are currently 20 thousand Syrian Armenians living in Armenia. This number is mainly increasing, rather decreasing.
