Argentina MP is impressed by Karabakh constitutional referendum voting process

Ashot Ghulyan, speaker of parliament of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, held a meeting on February 21 with lawmaker Brenda Austin from Argentine and representative of the Armenian Assembly of Argentine Nikolas Sabunjian, who were observers during the Constitutional referendum of Nagorno Karabakh.

STEPANAKERT, FEBRUARY 22, ARTSAKHPRESS: Ashot Ghulyan welcomed the guests, expressed gratitude for their work and mentioned that suggestions of observers help Nagorno Karabakh to gradually improve procedures of holding referendums and elections.

Brenda Austin thanked for the invitation and said inviting observers to the democratic process, the referendum, speaks of the fact that the state institutions in Nagorno Karabakh are established.

“I visited 7 polling stations and I am impressed with the high level organization of the voting process, level of supervision, work of the commission members, accuracy of the lists, unity and awareness of citizens. Even we, observers, were guided not to do anything out of the rules. It is obvious that long lasting and serious work has been done”, the lawmakers from Argentina said.

Brenda Austin congratulated on holding the referendum on such high level and added : “This proves the high level of democratic sense”.

Afterwards, at the request of the observers, Ashot Ghulyan presented the pre-history of the constitutional reforms and held a Q&A.

At the end of the meeting, Ashot Ghulyan said : “We are grateful for both personal and professional assessments, because we don’t have a more functioning option for speaking about us with the world , than this option."
