STEPANAKERT, FEBRUARY 28, ARTSAKHPRESS: Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia, Emil Tarasyan, told the aforementioned to NEWS.am.

According to him, during his recent visit to Iran along with the Armenian delegation, he was able to assess the achievements of that country in the sphere of nanotechnologies.

“We are very much impressed. But, of course, one can feel a need for the fundamental part. This is exactly where our specialists can be useful. In contrast, we have good researchers but few operating projects. We can [thus] join our strengths,” Tarasyan said.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister was also accompanied by the Director of the Institute of Mathematics and High Technologies of the Russian-Armenian University, Eduard Kazaryan, and representatives of the State Committee of Science, who presented the Iranian colleagues the level of theoretical development in Armenia.

In Iran, the guests were presented the Sharif University of Technology—one of the leading technological universities of the country, which cooperates with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). School labs of nanotechnologies were also shown to the Armenian delegations, but they basically do the same as those of robotics in Armenia.

During the visit, a memorandum of cooperation in the sphere of nanotechnologies was initialed. Its conclusion is expected to take place during the visit of the Armenian PM to Iran. The document will be signed between the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia and Iranian Vice President coordinating nanotechnologies. The Armenian side already has proposals on the action plan.

“After this we want to hold a sectoral business forum either in Gyumri or in Yerevan. This will most likely take place before April,” Tarasyan said.
