Belgian federal and Brussels regional parliaments’ members André du Bus de Warnaffe, Emmanuel De Bock, and Pierre Compagnie on Monday visited the Stepanakert Memorial, in the capital city of the Republic of Artsakh, and placed flowers in memory of the Armenians that became martyrs in the Karabakh War.

STEPANAKERT, MARCH 20, ARTSAKHPRESS: Then Belgian parliamentarians were received by NKR National Assembly (NA) President Ashot Ghulyan, the NA informed.

He expressed the hope that such talks with Belgian parliamentarians create major foundations for the institutionalization of relations.

André du Bus de Warnaffe, for his part, congratulated the speaker of the Artsakh parliament on the results of the recent constitutional referendum in the NKR, and stressed that the Karabakh conflict is becoming more important for them.

In turn, Pierre Compagnie, who is in Artsakh for the first time, presented his respective impressions.

“I see here a country whose objective is not to separate at any cost, but to correct the historical mistake; this is a great lesson for me,” he noted.

Afterwards, and at the request of the guests, Ghulyan presented the main features of the new Constitution of Artsakh, and responded to their questions. 

Afterwards, the Belgian parliamentarians met with members of the Artsakh Republic-European Parliament Friendship Group of the NKR National Assembly.
