Armenia official on Karabakh peace talks: If one party’s position is “either everything or nothing,” there will be nothing

STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 23, ARTSAKHPRESS:Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan noted about the aforesaid to reporters, after Thursday’s Cabinet session of the government of Armenia. He noted this reflecting on the current phase in the talks to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, reported NEWS.am.

“Baku is doing everything to maintain status quo,” said Kocharyan. “It has been said many times: so that the talks can move forward, there must be trust between the parties [to this conflict]. And trust also implies the implementation of measures that were spoken about both in Vienna and in Saint Petersburg.”

And when asked whether he agrees with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that the talks will not end soon, the Armenian deputy FM responded as follows: “If one of the parties [Azerbaijan] has the following position: ‘either everything or nothing,’ then, naturally, there will be nothing in the negotiations. (…). And as long as Baku’s [such] position doesn’t change, there will be no progress in the negotiations.”
