Karabakh FM: Artsakh-Iran border remains closed, which is unnatural

The border between Artsakh and Iran remains closed, and this is unnatural.

STEPANAKERT, DECEMBER 5, ARTSAKHPRESS:Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh, Masis Mayilian, noted the aforesaid in an interview with Iranian political analyst and journalist Salar Seifeddine.

In Mayilian’s words, Artsakh has a positive stance towards Iran.

“We appreciate Iran’s policy—which is balanced and is primarily neutral—on the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict,” he said, in particular. “It should be noted that Iran is the only country in the region that has common borders with all three conflicting parties: the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Artsakh, and Azerbaijan.”

The NKR FM added that Artsakh has common borders with Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Iran.

“We are interested in having functioning borders and good neighborly relations with all neighboring countries, including Iran,” he stressed. “I am convinced that preserving the common border with Artsakh is in Iran’s interests, too. I believe this is in line also with the interests of the other interested players in the region.”
