STEPANAKERT, JANUARY 17, ARTSAKHPRESS:“Aram Tigran, the great master of Kurdish music, was born 84 years ago on this day,” reads the HDP’s congratulatory message.

This Armenian musician, who was considered the “nightingale” of the Middle East, was born in 1934 in Qamishli, Syria. At the age of 20, he had devoted himself to music, and he sang in Armenian, Kurdish, Turkish, Arabic, Greek, and Assyrian. Also, Aram Tigran had translated several Armenian folk songs singing in Kurdish and vice versa.

But Aram Tigran’s dream of being buried in Diyarbakır, Turkey, did not come true because the Turkish authorities did not permit the Armenian musician to be buried at the Armenian cemetery of this town. He is laid to rest in Brussels, the capital city of Belgium.
