Karabakh Carpet introduces its new production

STEPANAKERT, JANUARY 19, ARTSAKHPRESS:Director of Karabakh Carpet Company, Sevak Khachatryan, told Artsakhpress that the idea originated a year ago. They tried to produce something that is much more practical and which can become part of people’s everyday life.

“In this regard we decided to introduce tablecloths and scarves: the latter is made of natural silk. Patterns of Armenian, particularly of ancient Artsakh rugs, are printed on the scarves. We have made a product which should become an indivisible part of everyday and festive clothing of women and girls. Patterns of Armenian rugs are printed also on tablecloths. They are made of Indian gabardine, a specific type of woolen fabric, which is designed mainly for tablecloths,’’ Sevak Khachatryan said. He added that they aimed at bringing the Armenian millennial cultural heritage to everyday life. It will make girls’ and women’s outfits more beautiful and encourage them to wear Armenian clothes which should replace foreign-made products in market.

In Mr. Khachatryan’s words, the scarves are of two forms: rectangular and square. As of now, the company has produced about 200 samples. Each of the scarves is unique in its design. This is the third day the scarves and tablecloths are on sale. Soon the products will be sold in the shops of Yerevan. Till the end of spring they will also be sold abroad, particularly in Russia and US, where the company sells its rugs.

Speaking about the forthcoming projects of the factory, Mr. Khachatryan said that in the spring the company will start producing bedding, curtains and women’s coats.
