On March 29, the Minister of Economy and Industrial Infrastructures of the Republic of Artsakh Levon Grigoryan received the Director of the Wine-Growing and Wine Foundation of Armenia Zaruhi Muradyan, Head of the Union of Sommeliers and Experts of Russia Artur Sargsyan and the Executive Director of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship Development National Center of Armenia Levon Mnatsakanyan.

STEPANAKERT, MARCH 29, ARTSAKHPRESS:Welcoming the guests, Levon Grigoryan thanked them for their visit: “Together with the Union of Viticulture and Wine-making of Artsakh, we have been waiting for this meeting for a long time. Wine-making is not only the development of a certain product, but also a special culture. In recent years, the industry has been developing in Artsakh. There are many home wine-makers there.  The wine industry is in the focus of the President and the Government of the Republic of Artsakh. We are already taking steps to implement various programs with Armenia”.

At the meeting, the Director of the Wine-Growing and Wine Foundation of Armenia Zaruhi Muradyan, presenting the fund’s functions, winemaking achievements and experience in Armenia, emphasized the role of educational programs in this field: “Since 2014, the EVN Wine Academy has been functioning in Armenia. We are also ready to assist specialists from Artsakh. This is an excellent opportunity to have good specialists in the country”.

The Head of the Union of Sommeliers and Experts of Russia Arthur Sargsyan stressed the importance of recognizing Armenian wine in the region: “The Armenian wine is much more accepted and appreciated than the wines of neighboring countries. However, there is a marketing problem. We must present Armenian wine as a brand. The experience of the industry shows that the exported wine should be of the best quality, Armenian wine cannot be cheap. Armenia has a problems with advertising. Armenians cannot produce poor quality wine, because we are an ambitious nation”.

Prospects for cooperation with Armenian partners, export of Artsakhian wine and recognition in major markets, issues of PR of Armenian wine were also discussed.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Union of Viticulture and Wine-making of Artsakh, Artsakhian “Kataro” wine producer Grigori Avetisyan.
