Opposition rally: Protesters block central Yerevan streets

Opposition activists continue their march, blocking several streets in the center of Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, as today marks the fifth day of a mass public protest boycotting the ruling Republican Party of Armenia's decision to nominate Serzh Sargsyan as the next prime minister of Armenia.

STEPANAKERT, APRIL 17, ARTSAKHPRESS:Poetasters led by opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan are currently heading to the France Square along the Mashtots Avenue, chanting slogans, “Join us!”.

The intersection between Halabyan and Arzumanyan Streets remains closed off, with police officers urging demonstrators to open the road. Gevorg Gorgisyan, an MP from the opposition faction Yelk, is also at the scene, Panorama.am

Traffic remains paralyzed in a number of central Yerevan streets, namely in Tumanyan, Sayat-Nova-Abovyan, Khanjyan, Proshyan, Demirchyan and Baghramyan Streets.

On Monday, demonstrators led by opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan marched through the center of the capital Yerevan and blocked streets seeking to disrupt the parliament session which is set to vote on the candidacy of the new prime minister at today’s special sitting.
