STEPANAKERT, APRIL 18, ARTSAKHPRESS:In the official’s words, all the monuments of historical and cultural value in Artsakh are listed in the Artsakh state register of monument preservation. It is regularly enriched with newly discovered monuments and is as well preserved by the state.

“Monuments of Artsakh are related to very different times: from the Stone Age to the late Middle Ages. Hence, if we look from the perspective of religious division, there are monuments that belong to times when even today’s world religions didn’t exist. So, it is difficult to say how many of them are Christian. The number of monuments belonging to Muslim religion in the state register of monuments reaches about 30,’’ Nzdeh Eranyan said.

In his words, there are a lot of both historical-cultural and natural monuments. Three of the reserves included in the list of “State Service for historic environment protection’’ SNCO are historical-cultural, while two of them are natural.

To note, April 18 is the Internation Day for Monuments and Sites. The International Day for Monuments and Sites was proposed by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in 1982, and it was approved by the General Assembly of UNESCO in 1983. On this day various events are implemented in UNESCO member states.
