On May 18 a solemn ceremony of opening the exhibition of newly acquired Artsakh carpets took place in Artsakh State Historical Museum. It was dedicated to the International Day of Museums.

STEPANAKERT, MAY 18, ARTSAKHPRESS:As ArtsakhPress correspondent informs, Artsakh President, Bako Sahakyan was present at the presentation. He attached important significance to such events regarding the preservation and spreading of traditions. He added that it is also important  due to its cultural and scientific-educational value.

Artsakh Minister of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism, Sergey Shahverdyan, said that every year on the International Day of Museums, various events are organized in all the historical and cultural reserves and museums of Artsakh. ''Museums' Night'', which follows it, is also filled with public events. All the museums are open to the public, free of charge.

''The observation of International Day of Museums aims at developing the habit of attending museums in the people. The construction of the new building of Artsakh State Historical Museum has already kicked off,'' Sergey Shahverdyan said.

 

 

 

Director of Artsakh State Historical Museum, Melania Balayan, said that fifteen carpets and rugs have been presented in the museum's hall.

''Naturally, today one of the most important tasks is to gather wonderful Artsakh carpets and rugs that are now in different countries of the world. Mainly, we have exhibited samples obtained within the past two or three years.

On May 19, there will be a lecture dedicated to the ''Museums' Night''. The museum will stay open until late at night,'' Melanya Balayan noted.

She informed that the number of museum visitors was 17000 in the last year.

At the end of the exhibition, an open class of national dance was organized in the museum's vicinity.

Artsakh Republic National Assembly deputy chairman, Vahram Balayan, Minister of Culture, Youth affairs and Tourism, Sergey Shahverdyan, and other officials partook in the event.
