STEPANAKERT,  FEBRUARY 19, ARTSAKHPRESS: As ArtsakhPress reports, during the meeting the rector of the university Donara Gabrielyan thanked the party leader for his visit. She expressed hope that diverse issues will be raised during the meeting.

Greeting the attendees of the meeting, Arayik Harutyunyan congratulated on the 150th anniversary of Hovhannes Toumanyan. He noted that Hovhannes Tumanyan has not only left a good trace in literature, but continues to educate the new generations today.

Afterwards Arayik Harutyunyan touched upon the economic growth indicators registered in the republic over the recent years, the existing problems and the challenges facing Artsakh in the coming years.

"In 2006, our faction in the parliament shared the voting with 6 in favor of and 6 against votes, thus expressing its disagreement with 5.5% economic growth indicator  envisaged in the budget by the former government. We mentioned that in case of economic growth of less than 8% we will not be able to solve social and economic problems in our country.

In 2007, participating in the preparation of Bako Sahakyan's pre-election program we have set the 8-10% economic growth bar and over the past 12 years we have managed to justify it fully.

As a result, dozens of schools and kindergartens have been built in the country, thousands of dwelling houses have been built, and dozens of social projects have been implemented," noted Harutyunyan.

According to former Prime Minister of Artsakh, the government headed by him has managed to solve two main issues: food and energy security issues.

“Progress in all spheres of public life is conditioned only by the high rates of economic development; in this direction the implementation of theconsistent work should be continued,” concluded  A. Harutyunyan.

 During the meeting Harutyunyan also answered numerous questions raised by students and lecturers.
