Earlier, the commander of the US Navy, Admiral James Foggo, said that the US would not allow Russia and China to dominate the Arctic and control the Northern Sea Route, noting that this region should be used equally by all countries of the Arctic Council and no one has the right to claim it.
UK Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson noted that his country plans to increase its military presence in the Arctic, to protect NATO’s northern flank from Russia.
