STEPANAKERT, APRIL 17, ARTSAKHPRESS: During the meeting President Sahakyan handed in the "Vachagan Barepasht" medal to American-Armenian physician and philanthropist Carolann Najarian for consistent support shown to Artsakh and services rendered to our republic.

After the meeting, the participants headed by Bako Sahakyan visited Stepanakert's Renaissance Square and Park of Freedom Fighters.

In an interview with "Artsakhpress" Carolann Najarian said that she has not been in Artsakh for already 12 years.

“I am very happy that Artsakh has changed so much. Artsakh is more beautiful and developed. During our visit, we visited Stepanakert's Arpen  Maternity and Child Care Center  and the "Hanganak" NGO.

I would like to mention that I am involved in the Board of Trustees of the Tufenkian Charitable Foundation,”she said.

Touching upon the implemented programs, our interlocutor also informed that they are working especially in the northern and southern directions of Kashatagh.

They want to improve the healthcare sector of Artsakh, especially for pregnant women, children and residents of remote communities. They will continue  their works at the Arpen Maternity and Child Care Center, which she founded in 1995. The center was named after her mother Arpen.
Najarian has a great desire to visit Tsitsernavank, which has been renovated with the support of her family.
George Najarian, who visited Artsakh with his wife, told us that there were difficult years when Carolann and many other Diaspora Armenians arrived in Artsakh and supported the people of Artsakh.

Talking about his impressions, Najarian said in particular:

"Artsakh is the heart of Armenia. The people of Artsakh fought, and we, Diaspora Armenians, on another front, tried  to help the people of Artsakh with financial and material means. We just wanted to bring back what belongs to us.
If we haden’t fought for our identity and everything we have today, we would not be able to survive . It is very important to keep the Armenian identity and image of the Armenian because everyone in the world knows that Armenians are smart and able to do good deeds for all mankind. "
