STEPANAKERT, APRIL 22, ARTSAKHPRESS: Speaking from the loggia of St. Peter's Basilica, Pope Francis expressed his grief. 

“I want to express my loving closeness to the Christian community, targeted while they were gathered in prayer, and all the victims of such cruel violence. I entrust to the Lord all those who were tragically killed and pray for the injured and all those who are suffering as a result of this dramatic event,” the pope added.
On Sunday, addressing Catholics with the traditional message and blessing of Urbi et Orbi, Pope Francis condemned the violence committed in Sri Lanka and expressed his closeness to the Christian community, struck by prayer.

As reported earlier, April 23 was declared day of national mourning in Sri Lanka after deadly bombing, leaving 290 people killed and over 500 injured. The series of blasts in Sri Lanka occurred on Easter Sunday. The first six took place at three churches in capital city Colombo as well as in Negombo and Batticaloa towns and at three hotels, while the next two explosions occurred in Dehiwala and Dematagoda—two suburbs of Colombo.Also, an improvised explosive device was discovered in close proximity to the Bandaranaike International Airport.The main target of these attacks was the local Christians.
