STEPANAKERT, JUNE 25,  ARTSAKHPRESS:  The speakers delivered a lecture on the theme “The origin of democracy and its transformations”.
As "Artsakhpress" reports, welcoming the guests, the rector of the Artsakh State University Armen Sargsyan  underlined the high level cooperation between Artsakh State University and Caucasus institute.
Afterwards, Gor Petrosyan introduced the origin and transformations of democracy, its historical bases and the stages of the development.

Petrosyan noted that over the past decades it has become a trend worldwide to call all types of systems as democratic.

"The topic is modern and important today. Democracy is a legitimate instrument for that historical period in which a person lives. As of today the theme of democracy is interesting for the society around the world, especially the youth is interested in this issue. It is important for students to have basic knowledge about democracy; they should understand what principles democracy has, how it has emerged and what changes it has undergone,” said Petrosyan.

Alexander Iskandaryan emphasized the role of democracy, noting that it is especially important to be competent.

At the end of the meeting the speakers answered students' questions.
