STEPANAKERT, AUGUST 12, ARTSAKHPRESS: Lernik Hovhannisyan , Minister of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of Artsakh, told “Artsakhpress”, noting that the sponsors are particularly interested in the excavation works and they allocate funds for various research activities in their settlements.
Archaeological excavations financed by sponsors are being carried out in the Sos village of Martuni region, where early medieval artifacts have been found. Such excavation works are underway at the foot of Berdashen Castle. The works are being carried out by the Artsakh archeological expedition group and are particularly funded by the Artsakh state budget and the “Berdashen” Foundation.
We only support Qarin Tak Cave excavations, but funding is provided by various sponsors. The excavations in Tigranakert are fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism of the Republic ofArtsakh . Excavations in the area of Mirik are co-financed. By the way, this year it is envisaged to create a historical and cultural reserve in Mirik,” Hovhannisyan noted.
According to the Minister, archeological tourism in Artsakh is in the process of formation, and thanks to these excavations, many pages of history that were unknown to us will be discovered.
