STEPANAKERT, MARCH 12, ARTSAKHPRESS: The EOC's invitation to the Baku 2015 European Games was officially accepted after the NOCA's Executive Board ratified the decision. Armenian athletes will join over 6,000 other athletes from the EOC's 50 member European National Olympic Committees. The Armenian athletes will compete in six sports during the European Games.

In addition, EOC President Hickey traveled to Armenia with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, Thomas Bach in October of 2014. During the visit, they talked with Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan about the country's participation in the European Games.

As reports “Armenpress” citing Sportsfeatures, President Hickey stated: "This is great news for the European Games and for Armenian sport, and I want to congratulate the National Olympic Committee for taking this decision." He added, "From the start I have very been confident that this would be the end outcome as Armenia is a passionate sports country and an important member of the European Olympic family. The presence of their athletes at Baku 2015 will certainly contribute to the success of the inaugural European Games."

The Baku 2015 European Games will be 17 days of competition from June 12th-28th. The Sports Program will feature 20 sports, 12 of which will offer qualification opportunities to Rio 2016.
