STEPANAKERT, MARCH 31, ARTSAKHPRESS: Njdeh Yeranyan, deputy director of the State Service of Historic Environment Protection SNCO told Artsakhpress that the excavation will last for 1 month.

The excavation is carried out by Nzdeh Yeranyan’s team.

"The Upper Mosque of Shushi was built in 1883 by the project of Iranian architect Karbeli sefi  Khan. During Soviet years the mosque operated as a historic-archaeological museum.

These studies will enable to make the restoration works of the monument more accurately.

Shushi’s Persian Upper Mosque was restored earlier, which proves Artsakh people’s caring attitude towards preservation of historical and cultural heritage, regardless of religious or cultural belonging,” noted Njdeh Yeranyan.
