STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 18, ARTSAKHPRESS: The director of Karabakh Carpet Company Sevak Khachatryan said, adding that the peculiarity of eco-rugs is that it is not subjected to chemical processing, it is free of color additives and has a calming effect even in a visual sense. He noted that all process is carried out without using modern technologies.

“We receive threads in a traditional way. First, we sort the wool. Then we card wool using hackle. We separate the colors, and then spin it with a spinning- wheel and as a result we receive rugs from natural colors. These rugs do not lose their color while washing,” he said and added that the works last for about 5 months, and they get raw material from the wool of sheep from the mountainous regions of Artsakh and Armenia."Our ancestors also used to make eco-rugs. In literature it is noted that in Armenia there were 11-12 shades of wool.

However, we have managed to receive only 7, which are numbered and coded. We are trying to raise the Armenian carpet art to a new level, " said Sevak  Khachatryan and added that they are working hard to get the same old colors that have ever been used in carpet arts.

Touching upon the company's activities, Khachatryan mentioned that in recent years more than 500 types of rugs have been restored and weaved in Karabakh Carpet, and now they are making new ornamented rugs.

According to the director, the company has 100 employees.
