STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 17, ARTSAKHPRESS:Situated in the historical Armenian town of Bitlis, the St Karmrak church was a steadily standing construction until the 1990s. Its pillars later began dilapidating. In 2011, rectangular pillars decorated with Armenian murals totally collapsed, Mezopotamyaajansi.com reports.

Speaking to the website, a deputy mayor of the city said they had to stop the repairs due to a government failure to assign a board of trustees to arrange and follow the process.

Local residents have said that the church premises now serve as a parking lot for municipality employees.
