On Wednesday a memorial evening devoted to the 60th birthday anniversary of Artsakh Hero, the Republic of Armenia National Hero Monte Melkonyan (Avo) was held at the Stepanakert Culture and Youth Palace.

STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 29, ARTSAKHPRESS:Avo’s fighting friends and like-minded people made a speech at the event.
In his speech the head of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Movses Hakobyan noted that it is symbolic that the jubilee of the legendary commander was marked by the official opening of the Monte Melkonyan military school in Dilijan.
“Monte Melkonyan devoted his entire life to the security and protection of the Armenian people. For me, he was an embodiment of honesty,” Movses Hakobyan said in his speech.
Avo’s fighting friends Hmayak Haroyan and Martiros Zhamkochyan also delivered a speech.
The event was accompanied by patriotic songs, by the reciting of the pupils of Monte Melkonyan kindergarten in Martouni as well as by videos about Avo.
Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan; Ashot Ghulyan, chairman of the National Assembly of Artsakh; other officials; servicemen; guests and others partook at the event.
