US Congress extends sanctions against Iran

STEPANAKERT, JANUARY 19, ARTSAKHPRESS:According to the statement, the measures that were suspended in January 2016 will come into force again if Iran continues to test ballistic missiles program or produce sufficient weapons-grade uranium or plutonium for a nuclear weapon.

The bill obliges the US president to notify the Congress every 90 days that Tehran does not create nuclear weapons and missiles, and also allows inspectors to visit its facilities.

Donald Trump has waived a raft of sanctions against Iran as required under a 2015 nuclear agreement, but the US president warned European allies and Congress it will be the last such waiver he signs if they fail to agree to radical changes.
