Armenian President Armen Sarkissian has announced that within the framework of his constitutional powers, he will not allow for the country’s interests to be incorrectly taken into account.

STEPANAKERT, APRIL 30, ARTSAKHPRESS:The President gave an interview to ONT – All-National Television of Belarus.
Speaking about the Eurasian direction of Armenia’s foreign policy, President Armen Sarkissian said: “The Eurasian region is a friendly region for us, here are the countries which are absolutely friendly and brotherly towards us. In addition, it is also a huge market for Armenia, therefore participation in the Eurasian region proceeds from our fundamental interests, and not because someone is pushing us somewhere. I believe that whoever eventually gets into government, me personally in any case will not allow within the framework of the rights which are given to be constitutionally for the country’s interests to be considered incorrectly”.
Speaking about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Armenian President emphasized that it isn’t only Armenia’s issue, it is also the issue of the people of Artsakh and the issue of Azerbaijan.
“I would call on everyone to display restraint at this difficult time in Armenia, from which no one is insured in the world, in order to avoid provocations. God willing that we eventually reach a resolution of the issue as a result of peaceful negotiations process,” he said.
