STEPANAKERT, MAY 25, ARTSAKHPRESS:After signing the memorandum, Sergey Shahverdyan and Zarmine Zeytuntsyan answered reporters’ questions.

Speaking of the objectives of the memorandum of mutual understanding, Sergey Shahverdyan said that it will contribute to the cooperation in the state and private sectors, as well as to the increase in tourism flows.

He also noted that it will contribute to the organization of events on tourism resources, international tourism exhibitions, conferences and seminars and other cultural and touristic events.

The memorandum is the continuation of the 10-year cooperation between Artsakh and Armenia’s tourism spheres.

In the Artsakh Minister’s words, the results of the cooperation with Armenia are tangible. It resulted in the increase in the number of tourists visiting Artsakh.

Zarmine Zeytuntsyan said that they have been cooperating with Artsakh from the first day of the formation of the State Committee for Tourism of Armenia.

She said their most important achievement is that the increase in tourism in Artsakh and Armenia has been perceived as an all-Armenian accomplishment. That is, at the international platforms, Armenia and Artsakh are presented in all the marketing materials. The official also noted that they will further activate their collaboration, in order for Armenian citizens to visit Artsakh more frequently.

In response to the ArtsakhPress correspondent’s question concerning projects to be implemented in the near future within the framework of the memorandum, Zarmine Zeytuntsyan said that currently they are working on elaboration of a website for the Artsakh Ministry of Culture, Youth affairs and Tourism. The next step, in her words, will be the integration of the Artsakh and Armenian websites as one complete platform.

“We will show a few Armenian films on television. About twenty articles have already been published about Artsakh within the framework of “Discover our Homeland” project,’’ Zarmine Zeytuntsyan informed.

Sergey Shahverdyan concluded that last year Artsakh had a 67% increase in the number of foreign tourists. This is also due to the cooperation with their Armenian colleagues.
