At the initiative of Artsakh Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism, the solo concert of “Artsakh” national orchestra dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Armenian Republic was held in Stepanakert Culture and Youth Palace on Monday.

STEPANAKERT, MAY 28, ARTSAKHPRESS:Armenian folk songs were performed during the concert. Pupils of Stepanakert children’s creative center performed three new dances. Their creative director is Gari Avanesyan.
Creative director of “Artsakh” national orchestra and conductor, Levon Sardaryan, told ArtsakhPress that in 2015 when Artsakh Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism organized a competition of musical schools’ folk instruments sector, a children’s orchestra was created with the best performers of that competition and the students of the Sayat-Nova musical college. Initially, the orchestra had eighteen members.
In the director’s words, a few months after the formation of the orchestra, within the framework of the “Tnjre” junior musicians’ competition-festival they gave a concert in the town of Chartar for the first time.
“In 2016 the orchestra captured the first place in the all-Armenian competition-festival of national ensembles held in Yerevan. We gave concerts in Stepanakert, Martuni and Martakert region’s Haterk village,’’ Levon Sardaryan said.
Speaking of the problems of the orchestra the director said that he finds it important to give a state status to the orchestra. Also, the orchestra should be replenished with instruments.
Levon Sardaryan said that Vardan Badalyan’s solo concert with the participation of the orchestra is planned in the near future.
Currently, thirty-five members are included in the “Artsakh” national orchestra.
Artsakh Minister of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism, Sergey Shahverdyan, said that Artsakh should have a national orchestra since the national culture was formed on its basis.
