International Day of Children celebrated in Stepanakert (video)

On June 1 at the joint initiative of the Stepanakert City Hall and the Artsakh Ministry of Education, Science and Sport a festive event dedicated to the Children’s International Day was held in the Artsakh capital city of Stepanakert.

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 1, ARTSAKHPRESS:On the occasion of the holiday, painting, puppet theater, greasepaint, meeting with cartoon heroes and bubble football were organized in the Stepanakert Renaissance square.

Children performed national and other dances at the event.

Artsakh Minister of Education, Science and Sport, Narine Aghabalyan told ArtsakhPress that June 1 is a holiday for everyone and congratulated both children and adults.

She wished children peace, carefree, safe and happy childhood.

“We have talented children. We should think of creating conditions for them. Today’s generation quickly integrates into international community. Owing to the Internet Artsakh’s children can have access to everything, which is available for the children of developed countries,’’ Narine Aghabalyan said.

United Nations General Assembly adopted the declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959. The Convention on the Rights of the Child was then signed on the same day in 1989, which has since been ratified by 191 states. In 1996, Republic of Armenia adopted the law “On Children’s Rights”.
