STEPANAKERT, JUNE 6, ARTSAKHPRESS: As ArtsakhPress correspondent informed, Artsakh State Minister, Arayik Harutyunyan, said the aforementioned during the press conference held on Wednesday. He specified that in the last few months, especially after the recent events in Armenia, a demand for change has been formed.

"Serious progress has been recorded in Artsakh in terms of development of democratic values. Nevertheless, the events of the recent days resulted in an emphasized demand in Artsakh, which the authorities ought to take into consideration. During the last month we have been discussing with Artsakh President the question of appropriate reforms. Changes are always necessary for the development of economy. The basis that was laid over ten years ago and which provided an average of ten percent growth of GDP per year has caused serious urban, social and economic development. This, however, is not enough in regard to public’s today’s sentiments,’’ Arayik Harutyunyan said.

The Minister of State also reflected on the political force headed by himself — the “Free Motherland” party, which is the largest faction in the Parliament. In this regard, Arayik Harutyunyan said that it should have a bigger role in the reforms.

“The party is going to have an active participation in elections to be held in the near future,’’ Arayik Harutyunyan concluded.

The State Minister also answered the reporters' questions.
