Parliamentary oppositionist started protest rallies in Artsakh

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 13, ARTSAKHPRESS: As ArtsakhPress correspondent informed, head of the “National Renaissance” party, Artsakh Parliamentarian oppositionist, Hayk Khanumyan, said that they have started discussions within the public circles of Artsakh. The aim of the discussions is to understand the essence of problems existing in the republic and to suggest solutions and suggestions for them.

“The adoption of the new Constitution in 2017 in Artsakh, in our opinion, was made for reproduction of power of one person. It aimed at prolonging Bako Sahakyan’s power for at least three more years and giving him an opportunity to be reelected as a president two more times until 2030. A few days ago Bako Sahakyan announced that he will not be nominated in the presidential elections to be held in 2020. I assure you that this announcement is a result of the public’s suppression of Sahakyan and in the future we will avoid authoritarian manifestations,’’ Hayk Khanumyan said.

The opposition MP informed that they will continue organization of rallies.

“In the near future we will initiate events of public tension demanding resignation of Bako Sahakyan, increase the National Assembly’s role and call for the election of a president acceptable for the public until 2020. He will be a neutral person who will have the opportunity to organize such an election that in 2020 all the parties will participate on equal conditions,’’ Hayk Khanumyan added.

Other members of the party also delivered speeches at the rally.

To remind, organizers of the protest action held in Stepanakert a few days ago announced that they are not participating in the organization of Hayk Khanumyan’s protest rallies.
