On Sunday opening ceremony of a bridge constructed through “AHA Armenia” (Armenian Hikers Association) and named after Armenian hiker Telma Altun was held in Artsakh’s Hunot Canyon.

STEPANAKERT, JUNE 18, ARTSAKHPRESS: As ArtsakhPress correspondent informed, the bridge starts from the territory of Hunot Canyon’s reserve and leads to “Zontsikner” (umbrellas) mini-waterfall.

In his speech, representative of “AHA Armenia” Gevorg Gasparyan said that the construction of the bridge first of all solves the problem of security, since the former one was not quite reliable.

“Everything started from Telma Altun’s run last year, when he reached Hunot’s Canyon and hardly passed the bridge. After that, he promised that the problem will be solved. As a result, owing to “AHA Armenia’s” efforts and the profit of Tema Altun’s marathon today we have a new bridge,’’ G. Gasparyan said. He added that this is the launch of a new project, since they are planning to construct three more bridges in the territory of Shushi-Karin Tak.

Volunteer of “Armenian Hikers Association” from Los Angeles, Robert Asaryan noted that every time they come to Artsakh with great pleasure.

“Artsakh is our home. We are building our home and we will continue this devoted work,’’ R. Asaryan said.

Artsakh Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism Minister, Sergey Shahverdyan, thanked the organizers of the initiative.

The minister said that the number of tourists increases with the beautification of the reserve.

Over 40 members of “AHA Armenia”, tourists and guests were present at the opening ceremony.
