STEPANAKERT, OCTOBER 12, ARTSAKHPRESS: Director of Hadrut Children's Creative Center Irina Tamrazyan told "Artsakhpress".
He noted that in the beginning there were few groups in the center, and during the last 5 years they have managed to increase the number of groups. The center has the following groups: carpet weaving, beading, pottery, embroidery, embroidery-carpet, dance, dhol, painting, macrame, gobelin and other groups. The center also has a group where children learn knitting national socks ''shatal''.
''We also have 6 groups of carpet weaving, pottery and national socks, "shatal" groups. Another group of carpet weaving was opened in Mets Tagher this year. About 360 children attend our center, of which 180 are from the Hadrut Children's Creative Center, and 180 from the communities.
The number of children attending the center is increasing year after year," said the director and informed them that they regularly participate in various exhibitions.
Talking about national socks ''shatal'', she informed that in ancient times it was used as a gift for bride.
"At present in Artsakh and Armenia there is a great demand for these socks. Taking part in different events, we have noticed that the fabric of these socks is only peculiar to our region. It is a unique fabric that requires great work.
She also informed that the building conditions of the Hadrut Children's Creative Center are not good. It is envisaged to provide the center with a new building in 2019. If they have new building, they will also open a museum where national unique samples from the moment of the foundation of the center till nowadays will be exhibited.
