STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 5, ARTSAKHPRESS: As ''Artsakhpress'' reports, Haykak Arshamyan, Executive Director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund said that it is symbolic to arrive in Artsakh for the second time as an executive director and to be present at the opening ceremony of the school.
"I am grateful to the Toronto affiliate and the Artsakh Republic Government for the implementation of the program,''Haykak Arshamyan noted.
Mkrtich Mkrtichian, chairman of the fund’s Toronto affiliate noted that he is very glad to be present at the opening ceremony of a new school.
"In May 2016, when I first visited Ukhtasar, I came to see the building of the community center and to inform about the idea of building a new one. However, seeing the school's poor condition, we decided to build a new school in the community.
The benefactor also mentioned that the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund's Brazilian affiliate sent bags full of stationery to all schoolchildren. In addition, M. Mkrtichian said he will come to Ukhtasar again for solving the problem of water supply.
"The issue of water supply should also be solved in the community. About two weeks ago, at the Hayastan Foundation Toronto annual banquet we discussed the issue and in the near future we will start the design works, "he said.
Mkrtich Mkrtichian, chairman of the fund’s Toronto affiliate, for his contribution to the development of the village of Ukhtasar and patriotic activities was awarded with the title of “Honorable Citizen” of Ukhtasar by the community leader Manvel Petrosyan. The head of the community gave the benefactor by gratuitous property right 4000 meters of land from the affiliate territory of school.
Minister of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Artsakh Narine Aghabalyan said that this academic year it is the third school to be opened in Artsakh, two of which were financed by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.
School principal Vladimir Hakobjanyan said that the community has an educational institution since September 1, 2002, where 39 pupils study. "Today, we are proud to have a comfortable and beautiful school as a result of the friendship between Artsakh and the Diaspora,'' he noted.
The event was attended by Karen Shahramanyan, Minister of Urban Planning of AR, officials, guests and others.
