In January-September of 2018, the number of births in the republic amounted to 1738, which decreased by 1.1% as compared to the same period of the previous year.

STEPANAKERT, NOVEMBER 15, ARTSAKHPRESS: Head of Artsakh National Statistical Service, Manush Minasyan said today at the press conference.
" The most popular names for girls are Ani, Maria, Nare and Mane, and for boys- David, Tigran, Hayk and Daniel," said Minasyan.
Minasyan noted that the number of deaths in the republic in January-September of this year amounted to 897 people, which decreased by 0.3% as compared to the same period last year.
Blood circulation system diseases-69.8% and neoplasms - 15.3% are main causes of deaths. The number of deaths of people under 70 years of age amounted to 30.4 % and the number of people over 70 years of age- 69.6%.
Maternal mortality cases have not been registered during this period.
The number of dead babies was 8, the same number as compared with the same period of the previous year. In January-September 2018, 9 cases of deaths of children under 1 year of age per 1,000 live births were registered as compared to 12 cases of the previous year. And 11 cases of deaths of children under 5 years of age per 1,000 live births were registered as compared to 15 cases of the previous year,” said Minasyan.
