STEPANAKERT, DECEMBER 3, ARTSAKHPRESS: The discussion was dedicated to the International Day of Disabled Persons.
As “Artsakhpres” reports, The Human Rights Defender of the Artsakh Republic, Artak Beglaryan made an opening speech.
"He noted that the aim of the meeting is to get acquainted with the works of the NGOs involved in protection of rights of disabled persons, as well as with the programs implemented by the state in this direction.
The issue of protection of rights of disabled persons is one of the priority directions for me. It is important to get acquainted with the priorities of the sector.
As a disabled person, I can better understand the importance of the problem, but as a specialist I should evaluate the situation thoroughly, after which I will make specific proposals to the public authorities and civil society.
The results to be discussed will be very important. We will always stay in contact to consider each person's opinion, "said A. Beglaryan.
Talking about the social protection system, Samvel Avanesyan, Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Resettlement of Artsakh Republic, said that a number of programs are being implemented by the state.
"People with disabilities are provided with benefits by the state. Numerous programs are being implemented to improve the living conditions of disabled persons. We also highlight the programs that are aimed at providing disabled people with jobs. We do our best to solve the problems of this sector, "said the minister and informed that 8800 disabled people are registered in the country.
During the discussion, the representatives of non-governmental organizations briefly presented their works, programs and issues, make suggestions. They have raised a number of issues related to disability issues, including psychological and physical violence against the disabled children, rights of parents of children with disabilities and other issues.
At the end of the discussion, Artak Beglaryan said that taking into account the international experience and standards, their structure will always be in contact with NGOs and will seek to find solutions to all the raised problems.
