By the decision of the General Council of Turkey’s Foundations the territory handed over to the Armenian national hospital Surb Prkich (Church of the Redeemer), Zeytinburnu Municipality may re-take from the Armenian side.
As reports "Artsakhpress", referring to "Agos" weekly, Zeytinburnu Municipality, consisting mainly of the members of the ruling "Justice and Development" Party, has appealed to the court, demanding the return of the territory.
On January 22, 2014, the General Council of Turkey’s Foundations, after the meetings on October 7, 2013 and November 25, officially handed over to Istanbul's Holy Redeemer Hospital Foundation 42 thousand 259 square meters of territory in front of the hospital.
Earlier, in 1974, the territory belonging to Holy Redeemer Hospital was seized from the Armenian side and was put under the responsibility of the General Council of Foundations, Istanbul's Zeytinburnu and Büyükşehir Municipalities. Currently, the district market, the parking lot, as well as open and closed sports facilities function in that area.
