Commemorative events on the occasion of Victory Day of the Great Patriotic War, the Liberation of Shushi and the establishment of the Nagorno Karabakhi Defense Army have kicked off in Nagorno Karabakh.

STEPANAKERT, MAY 9, ARTSAKHPRESS: The political leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Armenia visited Stepanakert Memorial Complex to honor the memory of those fallen in Artsakh Liberation War and laid flowers and wreaths.
NKR President Bako Sahakyan was accompanied by the country's ex-president Arkadi Ghukasyan, prime minister, National Assembly (NA) Speaker, Commander of Defense Army, as well as ministers and MPs. Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan and ministers, as well as Leader of Armenia's Heritage party Raffi Hovannisian were also present.
The officials later visited the cemetery of soldiers who died while protecting their country, and laid flowers to their graves, honoring their memory.
The Armenian and Nagorno Karabakhi officials later departed for Shushi.
