Bako Sahakyan: Republic of Artsakh should participate in the negotiations

The negotiation format of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement should be restored, and the Republic of Artsakh should participate in the negotiations as a full-fledged member, Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan has said in an interview with Regnum agency, noting that would be the only option to make a breakthrough in the Karabakh-Azerbaijani conflict, Panorama.am reports.

Bako Sahakyan: Republic of Artsakh should participate in the negotiations

STEPANAKERT, MARCH 4, ARTSAKHPRESS:  During the interview the president has highlighted the Karabakh peoples’ expression of free will though referendum, adding: “The referendum was conducted in accordance with international standards, since the people expressed their will in a democratic and legal state. That was confirmed by observers from three dozens of countries. We consider that as an important achievement for our state, that has consciously and irrevocably chosen the democratic way of development.”
The Artsakh president has stressed that the main law will positively affect the consolidation of the Artsakh statehood, ensure the fundamental rights, people’s freedom and improvement of the state administration.
“The official Baku has not given up its criminal intentions yet to resolve the Karabakh-Azerbaijani conflict through military means, and we cannot but take notice of this. Due to these existing conditions as well as after long consultations with political forces and comprehensive analysis, I came up with a proposal to change the semi-presidential system of government to presidential,” the president was explained.
Speaking of the future of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Bako Sayakyan has noted Artsakh will never even be part of Azerbaijan: “That is excluded.  The Nagorno Karabakh security cannot be undermined at any level. As to other matters, we state our readiness to discuss those with Azerbaijan in a constructive mood,” the Artsakh leader has concluded.
