Working Visit of Artsakh National Assembly President Launched in France

April 3, a delegation headed by the President of the Republic of Artsakh National Assembly Ashot Ghoulyan, started the working visit to France from in Drome. The delegation consists of Arthur Tovmasyan, Head of the "Motherland" parliamentary faction, Mayor of Martuni , Mher Khachatryan and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Artsakh to France Hovhannes Gevorgyan.

STEPANAKERT, APRIL 3, ARTSAKHPRESS:As the Artsakh Parliament Media and Public Relations Department informed Artsakhpress,the mayor of the city of Bourg-lès-Valence, Marlène Mourier, received the delegation of Artsakh in the mayor’s office. Expressing gratitude for the reception, Ashot Ghoulyan noted that continuous cooperation between the cities of Artsakh and France is developing and Bourg- lès -Valence is one of the examples of successful cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. Marlene Mourier, in her turn, noted the importance of direct contacts, stressing that since last year they have been trying to strengthen cooperation with specific programs, in particular, to organize a fair of goods produced in Artsakh and, in particular, in Shushi.

Then the members of the delegation met with the mayor of the city of Valence, Nicolas Darragon. Mayor of Valence welcomed the Head of the Artsakh parliament and expressed readiness to develop cooperation between twin cities taking into account the priorities of interaction in education and culture.

Ashot Ghoulyan thanked for the reception and emphasized that friendly relations with French cities are highly appreciated in Artsakh and they do not see the necessity of artificially politicizing those relations. In his words Artsakh public and local authorities need to improve the organization of their work   and in this context they are looking for opportunities to share experiences with developed democratic countries and cities.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Lyon Gayaneh Manukyan, Head of "France-Artsakh" friendship circle François Rochebloine, and representatives of the Armenian community.

In the afternoon, a ceremony of signing a new agreement on cooperation between the cities of Bourg-de-Péage and Martuni is foreseen.

Note that the friendly relations between Artsakh and France within the framework of decentralized cooperation have been established between Stepanakert and Valence (17 May 2015) Bourg les Valence and Shushi (2014, October 5).
