STEPANAKERT, MAY 3, ARTSAKHPRESS:Speaking of World Press Freedom Day, President of Artsakh Journalists' Union, Kim Gabrielyan, told ArtsakhPress about the aforesaid.
''Freedom of press is equal to the freedom of society. However there are also other factors, in particular, the financial factor. Of course, there is relatively small number of media in Artsakh but in terms of legislation the field is protected. Every journalist defines his own freedom. A journalist adopts the demands of the news agency they work for. Nevertheless journalist’s freedom has great importance,'' Kim Gabrielyan said.
President of Artsakh Journalists' Union thinks that press freedom does not have a technical definition. Moreover it has moral, ideological and legal aspects which form freedom.
''Freedom is somewhat limited since it depends on economic, social and political interests. Nowadays articles and publications are disseminated for a wider audience. This is an opportunity for journalists to convey their opinions and attitudes to a wider audience. Yet there is another issue. Today there are blogs through which people express their subjective opinions,’’ Kim Gabrielyan added.
