Concert of Varanda Children's and Junior Youth Choir held in Shushi

Concert of Varanda Children's and Junior Youth Choir dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Artsakh Movement, 100th anniversary of the Armenian Republic, 2800th anniversary of Yerevan foundation and the 90th anniversary of the Pan-Armenian Educational and Cultural Union took place at the State Museum of Fine Arts in Shushi.

STEPANAKERT, SEPTEMBER 5ARTSAKHPRESS: During the concert classical, folk, contemporary and foreign songs were performed.

In an interview with ArtsakhPress, the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Varanda Children's and Junior Youth Choir , Honored Art Worker of Artsakh Zakar Keshishian said that the choir was founded in Shushi in 1992. At that time he was a student of Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan, the Faculty of Folk Instruments.
The choir's foundation was aimed at changing the lives of Shushi children and youth living in war.
Conductor of the Varanda Choir said that 26 years ago he decided to dedicate his life to the development of the culture of Artsakh.
''Over the past 26 years the choir performed more than 200 concerts in different regions of Artsakh, military units, schools, as well as in Armenia and the Diaspora. The repertoire of the choir is enriched with 106 new songs by prominent Armenian poets and composers. Two documentary films about the Varanda Choir were shot, "added Z. Keshishyan.
Z. Keshishyan's wish is that the future path of the Armenian people be more vigilant, united, reasonable and purposeful.
During the concert, by the decree of Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan, Lernik Hovhannisyan, Minister of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of Artsakh awarded Yuri Sahakyan, writer of many songs of Varanda Choir, Honorary Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, Poet Yuri Sahakyan with honorary title of Honored Culture Worker of Artsakh. Yuri Sahakyan's son receved it.
The concert was attended by musicians, poets, art lovers and others.
