Civil society NGOs are trying to step up efforts towards promoting reconciliation between Turkey and Armenia, the Turkish website Gercekgundem.com reported.
Following Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s condolence address on the "1915 events", Turkish NGOs are said to be taking steps to achieve a normalization of bilateral ties.
In the frameworks of an assistance project initiated by eight NGOs, the organizations will be given a grant to push ahead with their efforts.
The grant, offering a total of 200 Euros, is expected to fund 20 different projects, each worth 5,000-30,000 Euros.
The project envisages activities aimed at promoting strengthened ties between the Turkish and Armenian peoples and boosting business, economic, educational and cultural cooperation. It also calls for ensuring an exchange of unbiased information between the two countries.
