Arshak Petrosian among Trainers' Awards 2013 candidates announced by FIDE

FIDE announced Trainers’ Awards 2013 candidates. Coach of the Armenian National Team GM Arshak Petrosian is nominated to Mikhail Botvinnik Medal which is awarded to the best men’s coach. Here is nominated also coach of the Russian National Team Armenian GM Yury Dokhoian.

FIDE announced Trainers’ Awards 2013 candidates. Coach of the Armenian National Team GM Arshak Petrosian is nominated to Mikhail Botvinnik Medal which is awarded to the best men’s coach. Here is nominated also coach of the Russian National Team Armenian GM Yury Dokhoian. As reports ”Artsakhpress”, the official website of the Chess Federation of Armenia stated this.

Among the nominees of Tigran Petrosian Medal (Special Achievement Medal) is Armenian GM Igor Zaitsev-Aghayan. Let us remind that Zaitsev-Aghayan has been the second particularly of Tigran Petrosian and Anatoly Karpov.

Among the candidates of FIDE Hall of Fame is one of the best trainers of the Armenian chess players Oleg Dementiev who has trained particularly GMs Rafael Vaganian, Arshak Petrosian, Vladimir Akopian. FIDE will announce names of the laureates during the World Chess Olympiad.

Arshak Petrosian is an Armenian chess player and National Coach. FIDE awarded him the International Grandmaster title in 1984. He won the Armenian Chess Championship in 1974 and 1976. He became a prominent Soviet tournament player during the 1980s, winning games against such noted grandmasters as Alexey Shirov, Rafael Vaganian, andAlexander Morozevich. His current Elo rating is 2470, although he has been inactive for at least five years. More recently he has served as a trainer and mentor to his son-in-law, Péter Lékó. Petrosian is not related to Tigran Petrosian, also of Armenia, who was World Chess Champion from 1963 to 1969.
