In 2013, 13854 hectares were sown to winter wheat in Martuni region as compared to 10470 hectares of the previous year.
''Artsakhpress'' had a talk with the head of the Department of Land Management and Land Use of Martuni region Michael Babayan. ''Despite the damage caused by hail and drought last year, this year's figures of winter grain sowing exceeded those of the previous year'',- said M. Babayan.
Speaking of the results of 2013, M. Babayan noted that the gross grain harvest amounted to 19,452 tons, or an average of 18.6 tons per hectare. "Satisfactory results have been recorded in viticulture, in an area with 116.85 hectares of vineyards 9.733,5 tons of grapes were collected, the average yield was 83.6 quintals per hectare", - said M. Babayan.
Referring to the projects for the current year, the head of the Department said that the government's program in 2014, for the expansion of sown area of perennial crops and the efficient use of land, 26590 liters of diesel fuel and 13 million 290 thousand AMD were allocated to 20 communities in the subarea of Martuni region to extend areas where sainfoin and alfalfa can grow by 230 hectares, which last year amounted to 380 hectares.
Last year the damage caused by hail and drought affected more than 21,175 hectares of sown areas including 61.086 hectares of vineyards.
According to the NKR Government's decision adopted in 2013, support in the amount of 100. 000 AMD was provided for each owner of vineyard for fully damaged vineyards, as well as land users are exempt from land tax and rent within two years.
